President Muhammadu Buhari has been scheduled to supervise the groundbreaking ceremony of the Northern Nigeria first oil drill in Bauchi and Gombe states on Tuesday. The Kolmani Oil Prospecting Lease (OPL) 809 and 810 at the Kolmani field site will be the first oil drilling in Northern Nigeria, following the discovery of oil in commercial volume in the region about two years ago. Nigeria has always been with its rich crude oil deposit in the Southern Niger Delta region through which the country has remained one of the biggest crude oil exporting nations in the world.
Buhari Jets To Bauchi, Gombe States On Tuesday To Attend First Oil Drill Ceremony In Northern NigeriaThis discovery and exploration of crude oil up north will be the first after an attempt in the Borno region was aborted by insecurity.
Nigeria has always been with its rich crude oil deposit in the Southern Niger Delta region through which the country has remained one of the biggest crude oil exporting nations in the world. The NNPC Ltd officials said that the oil field in Bauchi and Gombe axis will be developed by Sterling Global Oil, New Nigeria Development Commission and NNPC Limited.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission said that presently, crude oil reserve in the country stand at 37 billion barrels.
