Heads of state and government of the Economic Community of West African States will, on Monday, continue consultations on how to resolve the crisis rocking Mali.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Friday.
The statement, issued after the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari , on Thursday, joined his colleagues in Bamako as part of efforts to resolve the crisis, was titled ‘We’ll do all to resolve political crisis in Mali —ECOWAS chairman.’ Adesina quoted ECOWAS chairman, Mahamadou Issoufou, as telling journalists at the end of the Bamako meeting that no efforts would be spared in solving the political crisis in the country.
He further quoted him as saying the Monday meeting, which will be virtual, would afford members the opportunity to further deliberate on the issues raised with a view to finding a lasting solution to the crisis. The statement read, “Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, President Mahamadou Issoufou, said the sub-regional organisation will do all it can to mitigate political crisis in Mali, after many hours of consultations in the nation’s capital, Bamako, on Thursday.”All rights reserved.
