President Bola Tinubu has approved a wage increase of N35,000 for federal workers for a period of six months after a meeting with labour waders on Sunday night.reports that President Tinubu had earlier announced a provisional wage increase of N25,000 for low-grade workers during his Independence Day broadcast on Sunday.

Chief of staff to the president, Femi Gbajabiamila, then announced an additional N10,000 to the earlier proposed N25,000 after a brief meeting with President Tinubu.“The Federal Government, on Sunday, October 1, 2023 met with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress on measures to address the dispute arising from the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit ,” the presidency said in a letter after the meeting.

“iii) The Federal Government commits to the provision of funds for micro and small-scale enterprises.“The Federal Government urged the Labour unions not to embark on strike action as the issues in dispute can only be resolved when workers are at work.
