The National Executive Committee of the Labour Party has declared that Peter Obi is no longer the sole presidential candidate for the 2027 election. The decision was made during a critical meeting at the party's National Secretariat in Abuja on Monday.The NEC declared that Obi, who was the party's presidential candidate in the 2023 election, can now contest for the position if he chooses to do so.
” The communique added: “The NEC in session noted that the Governor of Abia State His Excellency Alex Otti who convened the meeting did not have the power within the Party’s Constitution as provided in Article 14 gives power to call meetings only to the National Secretary with the approval of the National Chairman.
