BREAKING: INEC declares PDP’s Bala Mohammed winner of Bauchi gov election NigeriaDecides

Senator Bala Mohammed, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, has been declared winner of the Bauchi State governorship election.Mohammed polled a total of 515,113 votes to defeat Gov. Abubakar who got 500,625 votes.

According to the results, Sen. Mohammed had a landslide victory in 7 Local Government Areas out of the 20 in the state while Governor Abubakar won in 13 LGAs with slimmer margins. Mohammedd won Bogoro, Misau, Alkaleri, Zaki, Dambam, Bauchi and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas. Gov. Abubakar won in Dass, Kirfi, Giade, Warji, Jama’are, Gamawa, Shirt, Itas Gadau, Katagum, Toro, Ningi, Darazo and Ganjuwa Local Government Areas.reports that Senator Bala Mohammed is the first to defeat an incumbent Governor in the state since the return to democracy in 1999.

The state Returning Officer, Prof. Kyari Mohammed, who announced the result at exactly 11pm on Monday said: “I, Prof. Kyari Mohammed, declare that I was the Returning Officer of the election in Bauchi State and that Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, of the PDP, has satisfied the requirements of the law and haven scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared winner and is returned elected.”
