Boko Haram operating checkpoints – UN reacts to execution of aid workers
Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Edward Kallon, in a statement, said he was utterly shocked and horrified by the gruesome killing.He decried the number of illegal vehicular checkpoints set up by terrorists along main supply routes.
The UN described the workers as committed humanitarians who devoted their lives to helping vulnerable people and communities ravaged by violence.Kallon strongly condemned all violence targeting aid workers and the civilians they are assisting. He lamented that the checkpoints disrupt the delivery of life-saving assistance and heighten the risks for civilians of being abducted, killed or injured.
