Elder statesman Bode George endorses Sunday Ude-Okoye as the legitimate National Secretary of the PDP, following a Court of Appeal ruling. George urges Samuel Anyanwu to accept the decision and allow peace to prevail within the party.

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party's Board of Trustees and elder statesman, Bode George, has expressed his full support for the decision of his colleagues to recognize Sunday Ude-Okoye as the legitimate National Secretary of the party. DAILY POST reports that there has been a dispute between Ude-Okoye and Samuel Anyanwu over the position of PDP National Secretary , with both individuals asserting their right to the role.

Following a meeting of the BoT on Wednesday, they urged the party's National Working Committee to immediately induct Ude-Okoye as the substantive national secretary of the party. Speaking on Politics Today, a program on Channels Television on Friday, George clarified that the decision to endorse Ude-Okoye stemmed from the Court of Appeal's judgment, which affirmed him as the authentic National Secretary of the PDP. 'Based on the information presented to us, I stand firmly behind their decision,' George stated. 'What else should the elders do? The report clearly indicated that there was no conflicting Court of Appeal ruling apart from Okoye's.' He continued, 'Therefore, what are we supposed to do? If Anyanwu chooses to appeal to the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court overturns the Court of Appeal's decision, we will adhere to that ruling.' George, however, appealed to Anyanwu to relinquish his claim and allow peace to prevail, enabling the party to concentrate on its responsibilities as the opposition. He asserted that despite the internal turmoil within the PDP, the party remains more organized internally compared to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. The elder statesman expressed confidence that the PDP would not completely collapse, stating that he is aware that the party's fundamental foundation remains intact.
