Big Brother Naija Season 11 finale features nine housemates competing for N160 million on October 4. Kievo was disqualified, leaving nine in the race.
The Big Brother Naija reality show is set to crown a new winner in its eleventh season, with nine housemates remaining in the Show Ya Self edition. The grand finale will take place on Sunday, October 4, and the winner will walk away with a N160 million grand prize. The season began with ten housemates, but Kievo was disqualified for violent behaviour, reducing the number of finalists to nine.
Big Brother Naija History and Evolution
The maiden edition of Big Brother Naija was held in 2006, filmed in South Africa, and featured Ebuka Obi-Uchendu as a housemate before he became the host in Season 2. Katung Aduwak emerged as the winner of that first season. After an 11-year hiatus, the show returned in 2017 with the See Gobe edition, which unveiled many housemates who are now doing well in the entertainment space. Efe Ejeba won the second season and won the hearts of viewers with popular catchphrases like Based on Logistics.
The third season, Double Wahala, aired in 2018 and was known for intense drama, dynamic duos, and arena games dominance. Miracle Igbokwe emerged as the winner. In 2019, the Pepper Dem Gang edition took the show to another level and was the first season filmed locally in Lagos, Nigeria. Mercy Eke became the first female winner in the show's history.
Recent Seasons and Winners
The Lockdown season in 2020 was filmed during the global COVID-19 pandemic with strict quarantine rules, and Laycon won with record-breaking vote margins. In 2021, the organisers introduced wildcards and secret rooms, and Whitemoney won hearts through his kitchen skills and relatable personality.
The Level Up edition in 2022 split housemates across two isolated houses, Level 1 and Level 2, and Phyna became the second female winner. Season 8 in 2023 was an All Stars edition that brought back past housemates and fan favourites, and Ilebaye, known as Gen Z Baddie, became the youngest winner.
In Season 9, the No Loose Guard edition introduced a dynamic paired-entry system. Kelkyrae, who won in 2024, entered as a married duo DoubleKay alongside his wife Kassia. The milestone decade season, 10/10 edition, was a reality show in itself, and Imisi was crowned the grand winner. She is the previous winner of 2025, and on Sunday a new winner will be crowned.
Current Season Housemates and Grand Prize
The Show Ya Self edition has nine housemates remaining: Tram, Temi Nkem, Bluethopia, Aikou, Sheba, Barry, Oyin, Flora and Ricky. They will battle for the N160 million grand prize on Sunday, October 4. The winner will be determined by the largest votes from viewers.
The life of the winner is expected to take a different trajectory, as has been the case with past winners who have gone on to achieve success in various spheres of life. The show continues to be one of the most watched reality TV programmes, and this season has generated significant interest among fans.
