Benue State Local Government Service Commission has uncovered 3,460 ghost workers on the payroll of the 23 local governments in the state.
The Chairman of the commission, Ben Melladu, disclosed this at the presentation of the Local Government Staff Verification Report to Governor Samuel Ortom on Monday in Makurdi, the state capital.
“This does not include the salary of traditional rulers and Local Government Council members who are expected to come into office in April, 2020.” “This is the starting point of taking this report seriously by monitoring the activities of all stakeholders involved in payment of staff at the third tier of government.
