The Benue State House of Assembly has urged Governor Hyacinth Alia to expedite the renovation of the Assembly Complex, citing harassment of lawmakers by security personnel at Government House due to the ongoing construction.
The Benue State House of Assembly has called on Governor, Hyacint Alia to mobilise the contractor handling the renovation of the House of Assembly Complex back to the site to complete work on the building to enable members have a befitting place to carry out their legislative business. The House took the decision during plenary presided by the Honourable Speaker, Chief Hyacinth Dajoh.
He said the harassment would have been avoided but for the delay in completing the Assembly Complex, members have been subjected to unfair treatment by the security operatives at Government House. Minority Leader of the House, Micheal Michael Audu, while seconding the motion said members at several times were being humiliated and subjected to many checks by the Government House security personnel, and sometimes maltreated.
