Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in these illegal activities.

On January 14, 2025, the Benue State Police Command announced the discovery of two gun manufacturing factories located in the Guma and Kwande Local Government Areas (LGAs). During a raid on the factories, three suspects were apprehended. Commissioner of Police Steve Yabanet revealed that the operation was initiated based on intelligence reports regarding arms manufacturing activities in Mbaafa, Adikpo, within Kwande LGA.

Operatives arrested Friday Aduduakamve and Iorwashima Iornyume, known as AK-35, on January 11. A search of the factory yielded nine fabricated pistols, an incomplete AK-47 rifle, two gas cylinders, a filing machine, four additional machines, and numerous tools used in the fabrication of rifles. Further investigation led to the discovery of a second gun-making factory in Daudu, Guma LGA. Information linked Meme Ihoon, a 50-year-old suspect, to supplying short arms used by kidnappers, armed robbers, and cultists in the area. Ihoon was apprehended on January 10th and six dane guns along with three long pipes used for fabricating firearms were recovered from his residence. During questioning, Ihoon confessed to manufacturing and selling arms. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other individuals involved in these illicit activities. Commissioner Yabanet also highlighted a separate incident where a gang of armed robbers attacked a group of brothers. According to the report, a motorcyclist lured the victims to a secluded location and alerted his accomplices to carry out the robbery. However, one of the brothers understood the language spoken by the motorcyclist and alerted his family to the danger. The brothers fled, but the gang pursued them into a bush, robbed them of naira and CFA francs, and lynched one of the victims. Another brother sustained serious injuries, while the last brother managed to escape. Two suspects, Terhemba Abugh and Shima Terseer, were arrested in connection with this robbery and lynching. Commissioner Yabanet urged parents, religious leaders, and traditional authorities to instill strong values in the youth to combat the rising tide of crime in the state
