Governor Alia of Benue State condemned the murders of 11 residents in the Anwase community, promising to bring the perpetrators to justice. The attack occurred on Christmas Day.

Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has expressed deep sadness over the unprovoked attacks on Anwase community in Kwande Local Government Area Benue State , where about 11 innocent residents were gruesomely murdered by suspected Fulani herdsmen. DAILY POST earlier reported that the incident happened on December 25 when the people were celebrating Christmas with their families.

Reacting, Alia in a statement by his media aide, Tersoo Kula, expressed worry that such a heinous act has continued in the state despite the efforts of his administration to ensure the safety of his people. He, however, vowed that the perpetrator of the dastardly act will be brought to book, saying 'they will pay dearly for it'. He said, 'I can assure you, the perpetrators of this act will pay dearly for it. They may think they are not known, but they cannot be allowed to continue perpetrating this. It's a matter of time'. He condoled with the families that have lost their loved ones in the attack and equally sympathizes with those injured, saying his thoughts of comfort and prayers are with them at this difficult time, promising to ensure the perpetrators are equally brought to face the full wrath of the law
