Before Stardom with... Fade Ogunro

I was in London, United Kingdom. I worked for Google and some other online companies after I left the university. I’ve lived in London since I was seven years old. I moved to Nigeria in 2010 then I started working forI didn’t choose to be an OAP, it chose me.

My first job wasbecause I’m a producer, as you know that my brother is a producer. Growing up, it being on set and in the production world. I wanted to see if I could contribute to produce contents for TV stations. When I moved back, I was trying to understand what’s going on in the Nigerian media landscape. What project shot you into limelight? I can’t really say. I try not to think of myself as being in the limelight. I see myself as a businesswoman who works with many creative people and that propells me.I think people know me more now and would ask for selfies. When I’m in London I can get on the bus to MacDonald’s because people don’t really know me there. But in Nigeria, I may be at a bank and someone would want to take a picture with me. I speak at conferences about women and technology. I speak about entrepreneurial empowerment for women. My celebrity status has been able to propel my new ventures in the tech world. I think I’ve been able to use that positively. My accent. Some people either said it was too strong or others said it was fake. I tried to strike a balance by speaking slowly so that the audience could understand me.Ava Duvernay and any hard working black female who wants to empower other women would be my role model.Universal Music. I’ll like to get them as a partner.I intend my company to stay relevant not necessarily my brand. I’m after purpose rather than popularity. My brand staying relevant is not a priority to me. It’s about the services my company provides. I want my company to create jobs and provide an African legacy throughout the continent and not only in Nigeria. So to me that’s a legacy I’ll like to leave behind. It’s like Google; the owner of Google is not as popular as Google itself and the brands Google, Apple will outlive their owners. I want the legacy I can leave behind which is my company to outlive me. To me, that’s more relevant and impactful. All rights reserved.
