Bayelsa State Government has approved a total of N8.316bn to settle the arrears of 36-month allowances owed former councilors who served from 2013 to 2016.
A statement by Ehwrudjakpo’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Doubara Atasi, said he gave the directive during a meeting with the local government chairmen and representatives of the Restoration Councilors’ Forum in Government House, Yenagoa. He noted that each of the councillors is owed N2.2m for the three years and they would be paid a monthly installment of N100,000 each in the months ahead.
