The 80-year-old father of the Chairman of the Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Napoleon Alale, has regained his freedom after spending 89 days in the kidnappers’ den.
Napoleon, who is the father of Embeleakpo, was kidnapped by gunmen on May 8, 2020, from his Agbere country home in the local government area.
A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, said the abductors freed the octogenarian on Tuesday around 1am in the Otuokpoti community, Ogbia Local Government Area of the state.“The suspect has confessed to how he conspired with others to carry out the kidnap,” he said.The statement said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mike Okoli, had reorganised the security strategy of the command with a view to reducing crime to the barest minimum.
