Some oil-producing communities in Bayelsa State have issued a 21-day notice to the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited to pay them an outstanding $14m or they will shut down the oil
company’s facilities.
The communities, which are located in the Ekeremor and Southern Ijaw local government areas of the state, claimed at a press conference in Yenagoa on Wednesday that the $14m debt was for sea anchorage for vessels deployed by Shell.
