Residents of Gwaram in Misau local council of Bauchi State have pleaded with the government to complete the abandoned Hardawa-Gwaram-Akuyam road that was awarded about 19 years ago during the government of Adamu Muazu.

The residents said the road would give access to farmers and save their farm produce from wasting away due to the deplorable state of roads in the area.

The plea was made by the Chairman of Gwaram Takari Youths Consultative Forum, Engr. Suleiman Ibrahim in Bauchi, yesterday. He urged the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party , Hamza Akuyam, who hails from the area to ensure dividend of democracy is delivered to the people while in office. “We want this to serve as a reminder to the governor to conduct the 21km road linking Hardawa-Gwaram-Akuyam as a pledge, which was made during the last electioneering campaign for the residents to have a sense of belonging.

“Construction of drainages will save the village from future erosion. Millions of property, were lost last year as a result of erosion. Farm produce was destroyed while farmers were counting their losses,” he said. Government had about 19 years began the construction with a bridge linking Gwaram and Akuyam, without a motorable road.
