In compliance with the directives of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, most public institutions including banks and schools withdrew their services.
All academic and non academic activities were paralyzed in all public institutions.
At the University of Ibadan, all gates were locked. Also, in all the faculties and lecture rooms were firmly locked. All schools both public and private within the premises of the institution could not open as well.At the Polytechnic Ibadan, though the Joint Action Committee which comprises all the academic and non academic unions had ended their three-day warning strike last Friday, all offices and classrooms were shut in compliance with the NLC strike.
Also banks at Mokola, Agbowo, Dugbe, Sango, Challenge, shut their gates against customers who were there to transact business.All the schools visited were under lock and key. At Oba Akinbiyi Model School, Oremeji, Ibadan, the two entrances to the school were locked while students who were turned back were seen loitering outside the fence of the school. The situation is the same at St Gabriel School.But, the private sector did not observe the strike. Most private businesses opened and rendered services.
