Banks bear burden to probe unauthorised transactions, not victims, says Lim

TOKYO: Six people have died of heatstroke in Tokyo as Japan swelters under a rare rainy season heatwave, prompting authorities to issue a flurry of health warnings.

KUALA LUMPUR: The burden to conduct a detailed probe to prove any unauthorised banking transaction lies with the banks and not the victim of financial scams, says Lim Hui Ying .

Chong had asked the Finance Ministry to state whether it has any intention to amend existing laws so that banks are held responsible for covering the losses of scam victims.Lim added that any compensation provided by banks take into account detailed investigations conducted in each case and the effectiveness of the security controls implemented to address financial fraud.
