A bandit leader, Dogo Gide, on Sunday, released three students of the Federal Government College, Birnin-Yauri abducted by his men during a raid two months ago.It was gathered that the abductees were released through the intervention of negotiators working with intelligence services.
The report added that the victims are being transported to Minna, the Niger State capital from Kotongoro, a village in the Mariga Local Government Area of the state. Several students and three teachers were abducted Thursday, June 17 by armed men from Federal Government College, Birnin-Yauri in Kebbi State
A female student sustained gunshot wounds, while another staff member was hospitalised following the attack after the bandits overpowered the school's security team. "The team comprising operatives from the Police Mobile Force, Anti-kidnapping and Counter-terrorism units are currently combing nearby forests, routes and suspected hideouts of the criminals," the state police spokesperson, Nadiu Abubakar said in a statement released immediately after the attack.
