The Swedish electronic dance music artist was close to finishing an album when he died nearly one year ago and now his family, friends and creative collaborators are close to releasing it.

Talks were held about finishing Avicii's near-completed album just days after his death, according to The New York Times.

The artist left behind detailed notes about the album on his phone and computer, some of which were written in the days leading up to his death."It should be released," his father Klas Bergling told The New York Times.Most of the songs were 75 to 80 per cent completed when he died, with the team of collaborators working to keep the tracks as close to the demos as possible.It is slated for release in June.

The profits from the album will go towards the Tim Bergling Foundation, which the family set up to focus on mental health and suicide prevention.
