Auditor General, ICPC to probe revenue leakages in FIRS, others

The Office of the Auditor General for the Federation and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission will jointly audit the revenue generating agencies including the Federa

l Inland Revenue Service.

The Auditor General for the Federation, Mr Anthony Ayine, signed on behalf of his agency while the ICPC Chairman, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, signed for the commission. The agencies are the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, the Federal Inland Revenue Service and the Department for Petroleum Resources.

The report also said that the FIRS generated N2.66tn but paid about N2.45tn into the federation account. Ayine said already, both revenue generating agencies had been informed through a letter about the decision to audit their revenue remittances.
