The Arewa Youth Assembly has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene and put a stop to what they describe as a “campaign of attacks” against Mele Kolo Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL.

The youth group alleged that these attacks are being orchestrated by insiders within the corporation, specifically by senior management staff aiming to discredit Kyari’s leadership and reforms. In a press release signed by Speaker Mohammed Salihu Danlami, the Arewa Youth Assembly warned that the attacks are not only distracting Kyari from his reform efforts but are also jeopardising President Tinubu ’s broader economic goals.

“They are impacting negatively on the GCEO, distracting him from the ongoing reforms and because of the importance and centrality of the NNPCL to the economy of this country, these attacks are also injurious to the economic reforms and restructuring of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as to the Promise of Renewed Hope agenda,” Danlami warned.
