The African Centre for Justice and Human Rights and the Arewa Consultative Youths Movement have accused the Inspector General of Police , Mr. Usman Baba, of allegedly shielding an aide of the Imo State Governor, Chinasa Nwaneri, from prosecution.
They appealed to the international community to impose a visa ban on the IG, the Imo State Commissioner of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Services in Imo State over the matter. Governor Hope Uzodinma, while reacting to the carnage, accused Ugochinyere of violating an agreement , hence the attacks on him.
Part of the statement read: “The sole mandate of security agencies is to do everything possible to prevent incidences capable of causing human death. Similarly, the Arewa Consultative Youths Movement accused the IG of shielding Governor Uzodimma’s aide, Nwaneri, who, according to it, “openly threatened to harm Ugochinyere”.
