'We want a government who listen to the opinions of young people - they are the future of this country'
At the University of Manchester, you hardly even need to step on campus to know which vital issue will be on the minds of thousands of students as they vote in the general election this summer.
Students also told the M.E.N they were concerned about the cost of living crisis, the climate, and homelessness in the city. A unique group, those studying at university have a choice of voting at their family address or their student address, and many choose to cast their vote where they believe it has the potential to make the biggest difference.
"Students are going straight into a cost of living crisis, so as a young person you're already facing the hardest challenges from a young age." She added 'a lot of students' had been through the camp to show support and anger at some of the research ties and academic ties the University has. The 19-year-old described the cost of living crisis as 'insane' and said it was 'really difficult' for students to manage. "I think people are talking about the cost of living for professionals and people working, but students who aren't earning, or aren't earning as much as working professionals, life is really expensive.
"I'd like to see greater conservation of UK ecosystems and sorting out our food problem at the moment as well, making sure that people are eating locally."
