Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is planning a significant squad reshuffle this summer as he aims to strengthen his team and challenge for the Premier League title.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is preparing for a major squad overhaul this summer. With the Gunners facing the prospect of another trophyless season, Arteta is determined to bring in at least four high-profile signings in an attempt to finally secure the Premier League title. Arsenal 's hopes of winning trophies have dwindled after exiting both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, while their Premier League ambitions are gradually fading.
They currently trail Liverpool by six points in the title race, a gap that could widen to nine if Liverpool overcome Everton on Wednesday. Although a Champions League triumph remains a possibility, club legend Paul Merson expressed skepticism following Arsenal's disappointing performance against Newcastle last week.To bolster his squad for next season, Arteta is targeting reinforcements in several key areas. According to The Mirror, the Spaniard has already given the green light for seven first-team players to depart. Raheem Sterling and Neto, who are on loan from Chelsea and Bournemouth respectively, will not extend their stay at the Emirates. Sterling has managed only one goal in 18 appearances, while Neto has made a solitary outing. Thomas Partey, Jorginho, and Kieran Tierney are all out of contract and will leave Arsenal as free agents. Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior, who have combined to start just four league games this season, are also deemed surplus to requirements. While the departures of these seven players might not generate substantial transfer funds, it will significantly alleviate the wage bill, allowing Arteta to pursue a new striker, defensive midfielder, and goalkeeper
