Arsenal’s Europa League game against Vitoria moved to Wednesday

Unai Emery’s men are in the same group with Eintracht Frankfurt, Standard Liege and Vitoria.

The Gunners will face the Portuguese club back-to-back in the group, with the first clash at the Emirates taking place on October 24.Arsenal had been due to travel to Portugal on Thursday, November 7, taking place at either 5:55 pm or 8 pm.“As mentioned in previous communications, this match has been switched by UEFA from Thursday to Wednesday due to other matches taking place in close proximity in Portugal,” an Arsenal statement read.

Vitoria’s Estadio D. Alfonso Henriques’ stadium is just 15 miles away from the home of local rivals Braga, who also qualified for the Europa League. Braga are also in action on Thursday, November 7, against Besiktas and Portuguese police forbids multiple teams in the same region from playing home matches on the same night. The kick-off time of 3:50pm, also prevents the match clashing with Champions League ties on the same night.
