Arik Air has appealed to the stranded Saudi Arabia-bound Nigerian pilgrims that they would be airlifted in 24 hours. The airline made the appeal on Saturday as it explained why some of the intending pilgrims were stranded at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos State. SaharaReporters earlier reported that thousands of the intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia are currently stranded at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. In anger, the pilgrims stormed the Arik Air office at the domestic airport, protesting against the delayed airlift. The Arik Air Media Consultant, Simon Tumba, in the statement made available to newsmen said, “The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria selected Arik Air as the carrier to work with the Tour Operators for this year’s hajj exercise.
