The Court of Appeal in Abuja has rejected an application submitted by the detained leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra , Nnamdi Kanu , asking for permission to challenge the order proscribing the group.
In the judgment delivered on May 30, a certified true copy as attested to by The Nation on June 12, a three member panel of the Court of Appeal held that it was inappropriate for Kanu to have filed his application directly at the appellate court. Kanu, through his lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, filed Form 49 titled “Notice to Show Cause Why An Order of Committal Should Not Be Made,” at the Federal High Court , Abuja, on Monday.The embattled IPOB leader alleged that despite being served with the orders of the trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako of a FHC in Abuja, made on May 20, Bichi had refused to comply with the said orders.
