The All Progressives Congress has reaffirmed its commitment to the principle of free and fair electoral process.

It said under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari, it has deepened democracy and improved the electioneering system. Apparently referring to President Buhari’s declaration during a meeting with governors from the Northeast that the ruling party could have used the military and other security agencies to overrun opposition states in the 2019 general election, but chose free and fair elections, APC advised the Peoples Democratic Party , Governor Godwin Obaseki and his Rivers State counterpart Nyesom Wike to emulate President Buhari on free and fair elections.

Yekini Nabena, said: “President Buhari’s declaration that the All Progressives Congress could have used the military and other security services to overrun opposition states in the 2019 general election, but chose free and fair elections, is a pointer that under the current administration, the days of stolen and procured electoral mandate are fast fading.”
