Supporters of the All Progressives Congress mocked Atiku Abubakar by circulating a picture of him falling during a past presidential campaign launch in retaliation for his sympathy towards President Bola Tinubu 's recent fall. Unfortunately for the president, he missed a step and fell while attempting to enter the vehicle, but his aides quickly rushed to his aid and helped him get back on his feet. Olusegun, in a post on his X handle, stated, “Mr. President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.”
Olusegun mocking Atiku added that it is “better to fall briefly and rise than to be falling consistently in trying to be president since 1992 but still won’t quit.” In 2017, he returned to the Peoples Democratic Party and was the party presidential candidate during the 2019 presidential election, again losing to incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari. In May 2022, he was chosen as the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate again, this time for the 2023 general election, after he defeated Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, in the primaries.
