APC crisis: Party suspends VON DG’s ward chairman, executive
The Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress has announced the suspension of the party’s chairman in Eke Ward, Udi Local government area of the State, Mr. Philip Ogechukwu.They were suspended barely 24 hours after they passed a vote of confidence on the Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, Mr Osita Okechukwu, who is from the ward.
The statement regretted that a ward chairman could order the national Chairman of his party to reverse a decision that was taken by a higher body such as NWC of the party without recourse to the party leadership in the state. “First of all, the Enugu State APC apologizes to the office of the National Chairman and the National Working Committee over the unguided statement.
Nwoye said for record purposes, Okechukwu’s suspension followed a petition from Enugu State to the national Secretariat last year over alleged anti party activities he had been displaying with impunity. “The APC, Eke Ward, further states that there was no report of Anti-party activities against Mr. OsitaOkechukwu presented to the ward Executive nor did the ward Executive or any member of the ward make any report of anti-party activities against Mr. OsitaOkechukwu to any other higher organ of the party either atthe Local Government, State or Federal levels.
