The All Progressives Congress has finalized its candidate list for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections, uploading 471 names to INEC's portal before the deadline, including President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima as the presidential ticket. The All Progressives Congress ( APC) has completed the submission of its candidates for the upcoming 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections, confirming President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima as the party's official presidential ticket.
The ruling party announced that it successfully uploaded the details of 471 candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal before the deadline. This submission includes the presidential and vice-presidential nominees, 109 Senate candidates, and 360 aspirants for the House of Representatives. This development ends months of speculation regarding the APC's presidential ticket, with Shettima retained as Tinubu's running mate for the 2027 polls.
APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, confirmed the completion of the exercise in a statement issued shortly after the closure of INEC's nomination portal. He stated that the party achieved full compliance with the commission's requirements for nominating candidates for all covered elective offices.
"I congratulate our candidates, leaders, and members of APC on the successful 100% upload of our Presidential, Vice Presidential, Senate, and House of Representatives candidates on the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal (ICNP)," he said. Yilwatda described the milestone as a significant step in the party's preparations for the next general election and added that the focus now shifts to mobilization and preparations for a successful campaign and decisive victory at the polls.
With this submission, the APC joins other political parties that met the electoral commission's deadline. INEC had set 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, as the cutoff for parties to submit nomination forms through its online portal. The commission had granted parties access to the portal starting June 26, with submission commencing on June 27 in line with Section 29(1) of the Electoral Act, 2026.
Now that the nomination process is concluded, attention is expected to转向 campaign planning, voter mobilization, and politicking ahead of the 2027 general election.
