But while denying the alleged rift between the two PDP leaders, the party attributed the post to the handiwork of the ruling All Progressives Congress, maintaining that the opposition party was currently more united than ever in the state.
PDP Publicity Secretary in the state, Silas Onu, stated this in a statement, issued to journalists, on Wednesday. The statement read in part, “Our attention has been drawn to an unfortunate contrived story deliberately planted in the social media on an unfortunate page presupposing that there is a sort of grand-scheming between our Leaders, H.E Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim and H.E Sen. Sam Egwu.
“Firstly, we are not surprised but glad that the Umahi’s APC faction is worried and deeply troubled over the peace that has remained constant in the PDP since the inglorious exit of Gov. David Umahi. The APC faction in the state is merely ventilating their current internal frustration by planting contrived stories to divert the attention of our very determined people from spotting their obvious crisis emanating from an ordinary Ward Congress.
“To our teaming supporters, be rest assured that your leaders – H.E. Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, GCON, H.E. Sen. Sam Ominyi Egwu and all others are working assiduously and as a team to deliver the best leadership for our party ahead of our return to government in 2023.”
