The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has asked banks to investigate the sources of income of their customers. Bawa stated that some customers received a huge sum of money within two months of opening an account.
The EFCC said the anti-graft agency will start holding banks liable for fraud in financial deposits, where there are established cases of complicity in the sector from September 1. The vice-chairman of the association, Uduak Udoh, said some customers are conniving with bank staff to loot funds while seeking support from the commission.
