Daniel Andrews has delivered a message to councils amid new figures revealing strong support within Victoria for a change to how local government operates in the state.

"As far as local government's concerned, everyone should stick to their primary responsibilities, get on, get things done," he said.

Mr Andrews had fronted the media in Epping alongside Acting Health Minister Colin Brooks while on a visit to the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department.
