Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has accused Prime Minister Scott Morrison of “pandering to extremists″⁣ in the wake of a large protest in Melbourne.

Asked about the threats during the week, Mr Morrison said such behaviour had no place in public protest but could understand why some Victorians were frustrated with the state government. “I am offended on behalf of all Victorians. Why would you, would anyone, let alone our national leader take away from 5 million Victorians, the credit that belongs to them? The fact that he couldn’t just pause and say ‘well done’ without pandering to extremists is beyond me.”

“I couldn’t have been clearer about denunciating the violence and threats and intimidation,” Mr Morrison told reporters in Sydney. When asked about the gallows at Parliament, Mr Morrison said, “that’s appalling”. But he made a distinction between those protesters and people in the general community who were sick of lockdowns.
