The Anambra State Police Command arrested Enediong Bassey 'M', a 25-year-old vigilante member, in possession of a concealed gun wrapped in a bag of rice. The suspect was apprehended during an operation in Nkwelle-Ezunaka.
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have apprehended a man in possession of a gun concealed in a bag of rice. The suspect, Enediong Bassey 'M' , 25, admitted to being part of a local vigilante group. The arrest was made on November 22, 2024, at 6:38 pm in Nkwelle-Ezunaka, led by CSP Emeka Obi. Upon interrogation, Bassey confessed to planning to flee with the gun to join his criminal gang for armed robbery and other unlawful activities.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, reiterated calls for profiling security personnel involved in anti-crime operations to enhance safety in the state and ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the anti-robbery squad for further investigation
