The Nation Newspaper Amoo backs Garba as Golden Eaglets camp opens in Abuja
Former Nigeria international and erstwhile men’s national U-17 team coach, Fatai Amoo, has thrown his weight behind the newly appointed coach of the country’s cadet team, Manu Garba.
According to Amoo, Garba as a two-time-winner of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, first as an assistant to the late coach Yemi Tella at the 2007 in South Korea and as the team’s substantive coach at the 2013 edition in the United Arab Emirates, has all it takes to stir the Golden Eaglets to international acclaim yet again.
“With his experience, he should be able to navigate and prepare a good team within the shortest period so that he can train and groom the boys for the competition,” noted Amoo. “It is good news because he has done it before as an assistant under Yemi Tella and he did it again in 2013 with the likes of Iheanacho, and his going back there again is a good thing because he has been a proven winner at this category,” the former Étoile Sportive du Sahel of Tunisia striker said.gathered that the Golden Eaglets camp will expectedly open today in Abuja as the team commences preparations in earnest for next month’s WAFU B U17 Championship in Ghana.
