The leadership of the Taraba State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, has refuted claims that local government chairmen are responsible for the diversion of Federal Government palliatives meant for the state.
Refuting the allegation on Monday in Jalingo, Taraba ALGON chairman, Alhaji Aminu Hassan said the association would not descend so low to cart away food items meant for the less privileged persons in the state. He emphasized the commitment of the entire local government council chairmen in the state to good governance. 'Local government councils chairmen in Taraba State are responsible people that can not go so low by selling what is meant for their people.
'We are not going to be distracted from our duty as duly elected chairmen tasked with the responsibility of providing the much desired dividends of democracy to our people.' While urging the people of the state to disregard the allegation, he assured that the association would work round the clock to unravel the mysteries behind the alleged shady deals.
