The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Akwa Ibom State Command, said it has busted an illegal fuel dump site located in Eket Local
The site used for the illegal activity is the backyard of a 10-room apartment located in the residential area of Ikot Udoma, where large-scale bunkering Automotive Gas Oil , known as diesel, and dual-purpose kerosene were stored in large quantities for distribution to various parts of the state.
Ekerete said two suspects, Francis Udoh Warri, 55 years old; and Uduak Sunday Johnson, 42 years old, were arrested while other suspects fled after sighting officials of NSCDC, adding that those apprehended have volunteered useful statements to help with investigations. “Others were; 27 Jerry cans, and 7 hoses of different lengths, 74 bags of DPK stored in 50litres cellophane bags amounting to about 3,700 litres.”
