Akwa Ibom Assembly begins investigative hearing into assault on artisan
Mr Imoh Williams , the suspended chairman of Abak Local Govt Area, Akwa Ibom State, giving his testimony before lawmakersThe committee on local government and chieftaincy affairs in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has commenced investigative hearing into the assault on a local artisan in the state.
The assault was captured on video which went viral on the internet, prompting the House of Assembly to suspend the council chairman, Mr Williams. The suspended council chairman, Mr Williams, alongside the victim, Mr Abraham, and his assailant, Mr Alele, appeared before the House committee on Friday.Mr Williams told the committee he did not have prior knowledge of Mr Alele’s action, neither did he endorse the assault on the poor artisan after learning about it.
