President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio on Sunday called for unity among the leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the South South. He made the call when he received state chairmen of the APC from the South South in Abuja on Sunday.
Akpabio acknowledged challenges being faced by the chairmen, promising that a stakeholders meeting would be convened in no distant time with political officer holders from the zone to chat a way forward.
He said: 'In the days ahead, a meeting of critical stakeholders, comprising state chairmen, National Assembly members, ministers and other appointees from the region, would be convened to work out modalities to support the party at various state chapters, as a way of engendering unity and understanding, amongst all party members to foster social cohesion between the party and elected/ appointed officials in government.
