The Special Adviser to the Osun State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rasaq Adeosun has restated that the decision of the Osun State
Government to appoint Prince Yinusa Olalekan Akadiri of Oba-Ara Ruling House as the Akinrun of Ikirun was based on his selection by the Ikirun kingmakers.
DAILY POST had reported that youths in Ikirun town, Ifelodun Local Government Area had on Wednesday night protested the State government’s decision to appoint an Akinrun. “The power of selection is entirely different from the power of appointment. It is the Kingmakers in a town that will select and it is only the responsibility of the State government to make sure that things are done in compliance with the extant laws guiding appointments of traditional rulers in the State.
“What we did was just an approval and not a selection. It was the Kingmakers that did the selection since 2021,” he said.
