The Nation Newspaper AGF seeks review of ECOWAS Court's practice
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi has advocated for a review of the practice and procedure of theFagbemi noted that such a review should allow the ECOWAS Court to achieve its envisioned potential as a respectable regional court.
He said as the ECOWAS block continues to work towards achieving uniform economic policies and institutions, the Judiciary should not be left behind. In his address, the Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the ECOWAS Judicial Council, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola said the Council is working towards ensuring a just and equitable society.
Since its inception, he said, the ECOWAS Court of Justice has served as a beacon of hope for the people of West Africa, providing a platform for the resolution of disputes and the protection and enforcement of fundamental rights.
