'Apart from the five persons that were killed, about six other persons also sustained one form of injury or the other.' Nigeria Taraba

The incident which occurred in Wukari Council Area yesterday took place in three separate attacks, which did not only lead to the killing of five persons, but also left several others with various degrees of injuries. Confirming the incident, Chairman of Wukari Council, Daniel Grace, said:

“Apart from the five persons that were killed, about six other persons also sustained one form of injury or the other.“The first attack occurred in Numa village, where he said two people were killed on their farm, while two others were injured. “The second attack occurred in Yoyina village where a vehicle was ambushed resulting in the death of two persons, while two others were injured.“In the third attack, which took place in Toshan village, one person was confirmed killed, while two others severely injured.” Saddened by the incessant attacks, Daniel urged the Federal Government to beef up security in the area, as this would go a long in addressing the menace.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer , David Misal, confirmed the attacks, but claimed that only three persons were killed in two separate attacks in the council area. His words: “One person was killed when a bus coming from the East was attacked, while two other persons were killed on their farms.”

The security challenge in Taraba State, especially in the southern part, has not only made life unbearable for motorists and travellers plying Jalingo-Wukari to the south, but has also compelled travellers and commercial drivers to seek alternative routes to Jalingo, the state capital.
