Having been led by Christian leaders for the past years, Lagos State deserves a Muslim governor, the Archbishop of Methodist Church of Nigeria Most Reverend Isaac Ayo Olawuyi has said.

The clergyman's remark was disclosed in a statement issued by Eromosele Ebhomele, the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa. In 2015, Akinwunmi Ambode assumed office, completed his tenure in 2019 before handing over the Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Both Ambode and Sanwo-Olu are Christians.
