The Bureau of the Boards of Governors of the African Development Bank has authorised an independent review of the report of the ethics committee of the boards of the Directors and submission made by President of the bank, Dr Akinwumi Adesina.
The U.S. Department of Treasury had called for an independent probe of allegations levelled against Dr Akinwumi Adesina, AfDB president on corruption after being cleared by the bank’s ethics committee. In the communique, the bureau reiterated its agreement with the ethics committee of the board of Directors, saying the committee performed its role on the matter in accordance with the applicable role under resolution B/BG/2008/11 of the board of Governors.
According to the communique, the bureau arrived at the decision based on views of some Governors on the matter to carry every member along in resolving it.
