He emphasizes that a responsible government should prosecute those responsible for diverting subsidy funds rather than penalizing citizens with increasing costs of living. \As an oil-producing nation, Kachikwu argues that Nigeria has no reason to eliminate subsidies while its citizens endure economic hardship. He believes the solution should have been to reform the subsidy process and punish those who abused it, not to remove it entirely. Kachikwu also refutes claims that President Bola Tinubu eliminated subsidies on his inauguration day, stating that the policy ended under former President Muhammadu Buhari, who omitted provisions for it in the 2023 budget. According to Kachikwu, Tinubu merely announced existing circumstances. \Beyond the subsidy debate, Kachikwu delivered a direct message to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other politicians allegedly considering the ADC as a platform for the 2027 election. He strongly advises them to stay away, emphasizing that the party will not serve as a vehicle for recycled politicians. Kachikwu urges Atiku to retire from politics, stating that the ADC is not available for those who have had multiple opportunities to serve but have failed the Nigerian people. The former ADC flag bearer accuses politicians of attempting to seize control of the party from those who have dedicated their efforts to its development. He vows to resist them and to contest again on the party's platform in 2027. \Kachikwu argues that Nigeria's political crisis stems from tribalism, religion, and regionalism, which have hampered national unity since independence. He believes that any future president must prioritize unifying the nation, addressing injustice, and promoting meritocracy.
