Abule Ado Tragedy: Death toll hits 20 as LASEMA finds mores bodies
A resident in Igando, Lagos State University outskirt, told DAILY POST that he heard the sound of the explosion.
In an update on Tuesday, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, LASEMA Director-General, said search and rescue activities were still ongoing. “The response teams recovered 3 bodies from the scene today, bringing the total fatalities to 20. A total of 57 people were rescued; 47 of whom have been discharged while 10 are still receiving treatment for minor and major injuries.”
He noted that the incident scene remains live and that Julius Berger and CCECC have joined efforts in the rescue process. The DG confirmed that the fire has been extinguished, adding that damaged pipelines are being repaired by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation .“A help desk has been set up in the area for people trying to trace anyone missing or those in need of temporary shelter at the LASEMA relief camp inIgando”, it added.Meanwhile, Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu,Buhari has also been attacked for not visiting the scene after 48 hours.
